Associate Professor Amir Takla
Associate Professor Takla was born in Alexandria and educated in Melbourne, where he completed his physiotherapy training at The University of Melbourne in 1997.

Training and experience
After 12 months of clinical practice, he was accepted into the University of Melbourne Master of Physiotherapy (Manipulative Therapy) program. The clinical masters program focused on advanced clinical reasoning, problem-based learning and manipulative techniques.
In 2007 the Australian Physiotherapy Association recognised him as a sports physiotherapist. He is regularly invited to speak at local and international meetings on physiotherapy following hip arthroscopy and the management of hip disorders.

Research and publications
Associate Professor Takla has developed rehabilitation protocols for assessing and treating femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), and is involved in postgraduate research at the University of Melbourne and Bond University. His research focuses on hip arthroscopy rehabilitation, hip strength and function, and digital tools that measure movement.
